Samenvatting

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the online retail opportunities that exist in the skateboarding industry, as it was hypothesized that in this industry there is ample room for growth and improvement to create a more pleasant experience for consumers. This research consists of three parts. Part 1: Case study of skateboarding brand – Element, a brand that currently does not run an independent online store. – Part 2: Analysis of and comparison between average online stores in the skateboarding industry and stores in the general apparel industry, aiming to identify the shortcomings of online skateboarding stores. – Part 3: Focused on the consumers, i.e. the Element target group, exploring their current attitudes regarding their shopping experience in online skateboarding stores.
