QUOTE: “Over the years the image of the entrepreneur have gone from incubators of innovation, to he¬roes of society, to overconfident risk takers. Due to scandals during the financial crisis the latter has become most prominent. […]I’ve found that it is not surprising my generation seems shy to start up some¬thing new. Young graduates are not stimulated enough to take certain risks. Fear of failure is one obstacle and underestimating one’s own capa¬bilities may be an even bigger one. A little over-estimation might be necessary for starting entre¬preneurs. Failing is part of that process, and that is something our society needs to start realizing. RESEARCH QUESTIONS (1) How does today’s entrepreneurial climate differ from previous years and in this regard how does this affect starting entrepreneurs? – (2) In regards to funding enterprises a lot of thing have changed and are still changing. What options do young entrepreneurs have nowadays? – (3) Is it more difficult to achieve success at a young, inexperienced age, or can we also find advantages in being a young – fashion - entrepreneur, just out of school? – (4) When one takes the steps into creating a new fashion brand, sustainability issues cannot be overlooked. How important is sustainability for young fashion brands and is it even possible to be completely sustainable? – ADVICE: a short overview of the three biggest pitfalls regarding the present generation of fashion entrepreneurs. Followed by the presentation of an idea for a new community website: Allej.
