SYNOPSIS The rise of streetwear is a process that has been evolving for a long time, but only in recent years the lines between streetwear and luxury fashion began to fade. This year [2018], one of the most powerful luxury houses, Louis Vuitton, announced two collaborations that embody the outcome of this development: its capsule collection with Supreme New York and the hiring of Virgil Abloh as its new creative director. Abloh is one of the designers, including Demna Gvasalia and Jerry Lorenzo, who entered the fashion industry with a new take on luxury that primarily focuses on a younger audience than traditional luxury brands aimed at. - This paper is going to be a review of events that have led up to this change.
