Samenvatting

Spatial and temporal patterns in submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) of nitrate in a high-energy sandy beach system on Spiekeroog Island were examined utilizing UV photometry. SGD as pathway of nitrate was studied to gain better understanding of the variability of nitrate discharge and the factors causing this complexity in order to improve coastal management of eutrophication and assessment of nitrate fluxes.
