Samenvatting

The use of pesticides by farmers to protect crops against pests has gained global attention due to the potential negative impact it could pose to humans and the environment. This demands that, farmers and all those who use it, make appropriate decisions, backed by credible sources of information to ensure its safe and sound use. This study attempts to understand the complexity of the decision making processes of smallholder crop farmers with regards to pesticides use in four dimensions, economic, social, environmental and technological, using Ajumador, a farming community in the Ningo-Prampram district of the greater Accra region of Ghana as a case study.
