Samenvatting

Meadows and pastures are maintained by the influence of human activities (such as annual mowing) and grazing by livestock. When these influences disappear or change, it has an impact on the vegetation. In Herrevadskloster the amount, species and breed of livestock have changed in conjunction with land usage. Söderåsens National Park indicated that it was unclear how these changes in livestock keeping had affected the biodiversity in the nature reserve. This was considered a problem because the mission statement for the nature reserve is to preserve biodiversity within its boundaries. This led to the problem definition: Söderåsen National Park would like to know the difference in effect on biodiversity, between grazing by the current livestock and livestock that historically grazed the area.
