A comparison between Russia and the NetherlandsSamenvatting
This research tries to find out what ways there are for Dutch and Russian first year (Applied) Psychology students to improve at Critical Thinking. The goals is to apply this on micro, meso or macro level. It is useful to find out what critical thinking skills and dispositions students should be able to display after completing a course. It is suggested that Default Processing, Intellectual Processing, Interdependent and Independent self-construals, and the dialectical self-perception correlate with the degree of Critical Thinking. The students fill in a survey that measures these concepts. There is no significant correlation between the dialectical self-perception and Critical Thinking. There is a significant correlation between Critical Thinking and the Independent and Interdependent self-construal. The strongest correlation is between Critical Thinking and Intellective Processing. It is suggested that a training that improves this concept will benefit the degree of Critical Thinking.
