Gemeinsam im Stadtteil

Inklusionsbereitschaft der Bevölkerung des Stadtteils Hiltrup gegenüber Menschen mit psychischer Erkrankung

Samenvatting

The following bachelor- thesis deals with the inclusion of people who suffer from a mental disorder and is concerned with the question: “In how far are the citizens of Münster-Hiltrup willing to include mentally disordered people into society?”
The multi-perspective view of everyone who is involved in the process of inclusion presents certain interesting aspects, which may be helpful to initiate further processes as far as inclusion is concerned.
The citizens of Hiltrup, patients as well as employees of the institution Ambulant Betreutes Wohnen were asked about the topic of inclusion. The goal of this research is to find out about and enlist recent attitudes and knowledge of Hiltrup 's citizens about inclusion and mental illnesses in general. Furthermore, it is intended to receive knowledge about other people 's behavior towards people who suffer from a mental disorder and to set and describe conditions for future inclusive processes in Hiltrup.
With the help of standardized questionnaires which were answered by everyone involved and later evaluated this matter was realized.
The results of this research show that (pre-) conditions for inclusion of mentally ill people do exist, however they are not yet fully put into practice.
The citizens of Hiltrup certainly have a rather large amount of knowledge about mental disorders. Rather striking however is an assumed connection between psychiatric disorders and aggressive behavior and criminality. In general, the citizens from this part of town are very open towards mentally disordered people and could imagine sharing a workplace, friends or free time activities with them. On the other side however, many times the behavior towards mentally ill people is often times marked with insecurities. The majority of people is interested in enlarging their action- oriented knowledge.
The willingness to actively realize a better way of including people who suffer from a mental illness is lower than the interest in the topic itself.
A qualitative research would lead to other aspects as to a subjective view of the citizens of Hiltrup and may open up other possibilities to reach the goal of including mentally disordered people into society. There is also a large probability that new fields of activity may come into existence based on the results of the research and with the help of other institutions fields of activity may be enlarged as far as social surroundings is concerned.
