Samenvatting

The church in Thailand is growing faster than the population, even though just 0,3% of the population is Christian. Why do Thai Buddhists converse to Christianity? With interviews and personal story, two major themes were found as important in the conversion of Thai Buddhist; attraction and power.
Thai Buddhists feel attracted by the change of others who became Christian, they feel attracted because of the love they see in the Christian lives and they feel attracted to the happiness they see.
The other theme is the power they experienced. Here we found stories of (medical) healings and miracles, spiritual experiences as dreams and visions and they found that God answered there prayers.
This research shows the great importance of personal contact in evangelism and the great change happening when someone become Christian.
This can also be seen in the statistical data in, for example media. Personal medium as tracts and books are far more important in conversion than television and radio.
Further research is suggested to discover more about the meaning of conversion and baptism and the issue of falling back to Buddhism in Thailand.
