Samenvatting

A lot of research on wireless charge technologies has been done at the start of the internship. Rumors suggested developments of other technologies than magnetic induction charging which is currently mostly used. Thereof magnetic resonance seemed the most promising technology but was not viable for the electronic consumer market. Therefore magnetic induction was chosen that changed design boundaries. Positioning is the main problem of magnetic induction charging, which makes this the main problem to solve in the new concept. Also, a fixed charging location and a need for disconnection to the phone was named by several resources, because this creates a lot of stress. People feel connected all the time which made this an important design element as well. But after testing a prototype by a Contextual Inquiry test, participants experience the disconnection section as not user-friendly. For that reason, the design was adjusted and the disconnection element was removed. Another purpose of this concept was to reducethe number of cables in the house for an environmentalpoint of view. The design choices that where made need to meet this same character. In short, the final design concept is seen as a solution for the living room at which positioning was described as effortless.
