The lectureship Mechatronics has formulated a thesis which handles the subject of remote monitoring.
The company PEAK-Systems in Germany provided the OBU (On Board Unit). Peak-systems also provides in client/server based communication software which uses the so called virtual CAN network.
This thesis is a follow up on a thesis of a former graduate student called Jurgen Boetier. Due to some severe setbacks, not all the functionalities were delivered by him. He did make some recommendations for the continuation of the project.
Based on the recommendations made by Jurgen Boetier and the wishes of the project leader the following goals were formulated:
- How can the OBU Firmware and HANtune communicate?
- How can real-time fault codes be read and reset via HANtune?
- How can the log data, as efficiently as possible, be sent using the limited bandwidth of GPRS?
- What functions should the back office application have?
