Samenvatting

Life-long-learning and employability are terms that are heard more and more in our current society. Legislation is changing and the focus by social partners is moving towards adult education and employability within the knowledge-society. In the Netherlands, institutes of professional secondary vocational education are motivated to develop contract activities and increase coopera-tion with small and medium sized enterprises within their region of operation.

The MBO college de Maasvallei is a formal educational institution which pro-vides upper secondary vocational education in the areas of healthcare, welfare, sports and economics. It is part of the ROC-Nijmegen en omstreken and covers the region around Boxmeer. One of their strategic goals is to improve and strengthen the relationship between education – labor market – society.
This thesis provides an answer to the question which opportunities the em-ployability segment offers for the MBO college de Maasvallei, and which marketing strategy is needed to successfully serve this segment, such that rela-tionships with regional enterprises are strengthened and the financial coverage by private funding is increased. The region contains the municipalities of Boxmeer, Grave, Mook, St. Anthonis, Cuyk, Gennep, Mill, Venray and Ber-gen(L).
