Samenvatting

This chapter addresses the challenge to determine what constitutes a contribution to HCI’s multidisciplinary research program. To improve the field’s understanding of contributions in HCI we have (1) outlined the changing narratives about contributions to HCI in the past 30 years, (2) performed an empirical literature study on a substantial set of abstracts of contemporary HCI papers to indicate the interrelation between contributions, and (3) analyzed the relationship between research methodology and contribution. The results of these three analyses have been consolidated in the Connected Contribution-Model (CC-Model) for contributions to HCI and in pro forma abstracts. The model and the pro forma abstracts help to understand and identify contributions and assist in writing clear paper abstracts.
