The US dollar is the current world's reserve currency since 1945 and many countries use this currency as a medium of exchange, store of value or unit of account. However, since the changing status of the US dollar in the past years, many questions about the future role and position of the currency are asked and discussions about a new reserve currency are a hot topic.
