Samenvatting

The objective of this assignment was to research the possibilities of using Agile Development within Business Intelligence projects. The current Waterfall method includes risks which could result in project failure. These risks include scope creep, decreasing commitment and growing estimates.

Based on the results there are three possible scenarios to use to execute Business Intelligence projects: the Waterfall method, the Agile Development method, or a hybrid approach. For Business Intelligence projects a hybrid approach is recommended, such hybrid approach should combine the components of the Waterfall method and the Agile Development methodology.

The hybrid approach is the best choice, because the Waterfall method has risks which may result in project failure, and it is likely that clients will receive a solution which could be improved. The Agile Development approach cannot give a clear indication on the required time and budget for a project, which makes it possible that clients will refuse this method. By using a hybrid approach it is likely that the risks of the Waterfall method, and the issues with the Agile Development method can be addressed thus facilitating successful project delivery.
