Samenvatting

The SBOH is the employer of GP’s and nursing home-physicians in training; the SBOH also finances both educations completely. Since a couple of years the number of starting nursing home-physicians is too small. This will be a problem in the future because of the aging population, which will cause an increasing demand of elderly care.
With this dissertation I have tried to analyze the image problem of the nursing home-physician in order to give advise. My policy question was: 'How can communication help the SBOH to improve the image of the nursing home-physician in order to attract more medical students to choose this specialization?'
I wanted to know why there is a shortage of medical students who choose the nursing home-physician specialization, thus I have formulated the following research question: 'Which elements make it difficult to attract nursing home-physicians?'
The purpose of this dissertation is to find solutions for the SBOH to attract more nursing home-physicians in the future.
This dissertation is mainly based on desk-research and quantitative research.
