SUMMARY
In this practice based research I answered the following question; Which effects have expression techniques within Art Therapy with regards to emotions connected to the felony? This question arose because within Inforsa, a clinic for forensic psychiatry, the Expression and Emotions module has been rated as effective. This module is used to gain clarity in the patient's emotional world and behavioural patterns. The patients get the module offered on an individual basis and need to be capable of self-reflection. Expression techniques are commonly used within the module.

It is interesting to investigate how the effectiveness is experienced, if at all experienced. This practice based research is an effect evaluation research making this research practised based evidence. Characteristics for an effect evaluation are not only the collection of data but also having the finding reviewed. For the collection of data, interviews with five (ex) patients and three Art Therapists are used as well as questionnaires for (ex) patients, patient file research and literature research. The respondents, (ex) patients, are schizophrenic, committed a felony and finished the module Expression and Emotions within Art Therapy. The other group of respondents are Art Therapists who used expression techniques in working with the patients. In order to come to a conclusion a triangulation is made using these 5 sources. After receiving feedback on the effect evaluation the final conclusion is made:........

The research recommendations generated a proposal for a practice product. A pre and after measurement have been recommended, accompanied by a detailed questionnaire. This way an effect measurement could be integrated structurally within the current Art Therapy treatment process. As a proposal an end presentation can be structurally incorporated within the current module, here next to the co practitioner also the patient's social system plays a part. This embeds the positive after flow. The second proposal, also a means to anchor, is to hand over a standardized photo reference book to the patient upon leaving the clinic.
