Samenvatting

DELTA Industriële Reiniging BV is an authentic and sub-division daughter company of DELTA NV, a multi-utility company. DELTA IR is an industrial cleaning company aiming to provide its services nationwide and has four locations situated throughout the South West of the Netherlands.
The organization's chief goal is to become a learning organization, creating an environment which offers people the opportunity to learn from each other by exchanging knowledge and experience , resulting in improvement of performance & employability.
This research has been conducted by using quantitative and qualitative research methods and advices on the main issue:
"WHAT IS THE INFLUENCE OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT ON PERFORMANCE AND EMPLOYABILITY OF THE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT WITHIN DELTA INDUSTRIËLE REINIGING BV?"
One of the primal demands is that the organization needs to have a reliable knowledge of the business , a clear vision and the results that are to be achieved. This vision has not yet found its way to the immediate employees of the operations department. However, employees are aware of the guidelines set out by management concerning safety and client-friendliness, but they do not always act upon it. The main reason being the top-down approach.
The employability shows coherence with the performance. Clearly, the level of education has been directed at the individual line of work ruling out any other kind of development. Steps should be taken in order to achieve a behavioural change. To increase the employability and improve performance it is advisable that the organization contributes in a positive manner in creating awareness, taking into consideration that the level of education is vocational.
Employees' involvement are high and there is clearly a desire for a positive contribution towards the HRD position. Clear needs are; exchanging know how, conscious work-attitude, being acknowledged by management, communities of practice and (further) developing professional behavioural patterns.
Working with vocational levelled employees require a clear and structured approach of which time and patience are valuable assets. Middle management play the key role in realising the HRD policy, taking into consideration the wishes and demands of employees. This will create the leverage the organization needs in finding its path to becoming the learning organization.
