Samenvatting

To track the moving sound source in a wide format printer, we may use the sound source localization technique. This kind of technology has caused a great concern over the world in recent years so that there is a large amount of researches. In this report, based on part of these existing relevant references, a sound source localization system realized by virtual instrument technology has been designed.
The paper firstly gives a general introduction of three sound source localization techniques which are Steered Beamformer-Based, High-Resolution Spectral-Estimation-Based and Time Difference of Arrival-Based. After comparison, Time Difference of Arrival method is elect. To put this method in to use, it is necessary to get the time delay between the sensors. For the time delay is an important part of sound localization system, therefore, it starts a discussion about Time Delay Estimation. On respects of interference of the system, the accuracy of the algorithm and the stability are addressed. Finally Generalized Cross Correlation method is selected to determine the collected target signal time difference. Then the values of time difference are used to calculate the direction of sound source. For the positioning equations are on account of the construction of microphone array, we first make sure to use four microphones and set them in planar array.
After finishing the essential preparation work mentioned above, the design part is explained. During the design process, the design method System Development Methodology will be used. It guides the design of the assignment progress in a logical and reasonable way. The main phase of design is the internal design which is segmented into the signal acquisition part and signal processing part. The final section is the testing of the designed sound source localization system in this paper.
Proved by the measurements, using Generalized Cross Correlation and planar microphone array is both feasible in theory and practice. It also shows that the effectiveness of the designed sound source system meets the requirements.
