Samenvatting

The heart of a printer is the printer engine, and it is controlled by real time embedded software. As the functionality of the software keeps growing in follow-up developments, a great deal of effort goes into testing and retesting. To minimize machine usage, waste of materials and human intervention, testing is done in a simulated environment where the real electronic and mechanic parts are not present. In this environment where only the software is in the loop, extra software is needed to simulate the behavior of the real parts of the printer engine. The software in the loop environment was started for simulating paper handling, which is another part of the printer. A lot of work is done to update the environment in order to make it more general. Now we want to use this environment for simulating the process part of the printer engine as well. A simulation for print heads has already been done. In this assignment, we take that as an example and aimed at finishing the simulation for other devices of the process function by using MATLAB SIMULINK. After four months' work a Linear Movement Device and a Pressure Supply Device are finished. The simulators are able to meet the requirements of software testing.
