English - Summary
The Greenhouse at the Rutgers University EcoComplex is a prototype greenhouse. It demonstrates, amongst others, the working of hydroponics and aquaponics systems. The hydroponics system works by watering plants on a bench and filling up this bench until the roots of the plants are submerged in the water. The excess water slowly drains from these benches back into a central tank.
The water in the tank needs to meet certain conditions: the amount of fertilizer and pH of the water need to be maintained. This is done through a conditioning system which is controlled through the Argus control system. This conditioning system was not working before this project; the conditioning was done manually. The conditioning system was repaired and tuned to optimal performance in this project.

Next to that, the evaporative cooling (=fog) system of the Greenhouse had an issue. There is a major delay between closing the valves in the pipes that supply the pressurized water to the nozzles and turning off the high pressure pump: the valves turn off before the pump turns off. This delay of 8 to 10 seconds is bad for the pump. The delay is not acceptable and therefore it needs to be fixed.
This delay was minimized to 2 seconds in this project, which was acceptable.

This report gives insight in how these problems have been solved.
