Throughout this report you will find the description of a research conducted for Handelsonderneming Michel van der Avert, a trade venture in corporate clothing, personal protection products and corporate hygiene in order to investigate the possibilities of improving corporate efficiency throughout automation within company processes.
In today's society, businesses become more and more dependent on automotive equipment such as computers, internet, phones etc. in the beginning of the nineties the company was urged to purchase an ICT infrastructure and a software program suited to the company's wishes in order to meet customer demands as well as remaining competitive within its branch. Since the implementation of this structure and the software program, little has been done to keep this equipment up to date and that is where problems arise.
Staff and customer satisfactory are currently suffering because of old equipment. Computer failures and the fact that the company does not own certain automated software programs are causing orders to slow down and proposals to potential customers to be late and unprofessional.
Therefore, at first the business processes needed to be described and inspected. After doing this, I was able to pinpoint the points of improvement within the company processes. With this data collected, I was able to perform a need analysis, in order to receive a view on what the desired situation for this company would be. Staff needs and complaints were investigated as well as customer and management complaints. All of these conversations provided the data needed to perform a decent need analysis. The outcome of this need analysis is that the company needs to replace the entire ICT infrastructure and needs to update software programs in order to improve corporate efficiency by automating parts of the business processes.
After this, tendering for hardware suppliers could begin and after several talks and visiting different companies, the choice was made for a regional supplier of hardware. Because the company was already familiar with the current software program and this program has a lot of benefits, the choice was made to hold on to this supplier.
Taking all of these analysis and choices together, my advice towards Handelsonderneming Michel van der Avert is to replace the entire ICT infrastructure and acquire upgrades for the software packages in order to improve lead times and efficiency within the business processes through automation.
