Samenvatting

The rising trend of implementing touch-sensing as a way of interacting with machines has allowed the technology to mature rapidly; not only is it functional as a control element, but it can also be very aesthetically pleasant and intuitive for the user. But to perform reliably, the implementation of this technology must follow guidelines that ensure stability and minimize or completely eliminate false activations. Since capacitive sensing is affected by factors such as ambient temperature and humidity, the design of such a solution must keep in consideration the environment in which it will be used. The goal of this document is to present the reader with a review of a pre-existing capacitive touch-sensing solution and the adaptations made for a more application-specific performance, and to explain the reasoning behind the design choices made.
