Assessing the behavioural and spatial responses of African elephants (Loxodonta africana) to music enrichments
Samenvatting
This thesis investigates the effects of different music genres on the behavior and spatial preferences of captive African elephants, with the aim of improving their welfare and management strategies. Given the growing concern among zoological professionals about the impact of captivity on the health and welfare of elephants, this study investigates how sensory enrichment, specifically through music, influences the behavioral patterns of elephants and their use of space in their enclosure. Central to this research is the primary research question: How do musical enrichments influence the behavior and space use of African elephants in captivity?
