Environmental Determinants of Adolescent Food Choices in the Netherlands
Environmental Determinants of Adolescent Food Choices in the Netherlands
Samenvatting
This report explores the environmental factors that influence food choices among adolescents in the Netherlands. Through a literature review and analysis of existing frameworks like the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the determinants of food choices, the research identifies key drivers such as economic factors, social and cultural influences, the food environment, and social media. These external factors interact with individual values, beliefs, and preferences, making adolescent food choices highly complex. While some personal values are more resistant to external influences, others are heavily shaped by the surrounding environment. The study highlights the need for multi-level approaches when developing interventions aimed at healthier eating behaviours among young people.
