Samenvatting

This research explores how a heritage-driven, craftsmanship-oriented aesthetic can be effectively translate into digital fashion while retaining its original value. It explores the challenge of simulating traditional techniques in digital garments, focusing on the role of digital technologies such as CLO3D, Vizoo and Substance Painter. Through a combination of literature review, expert interviews, and design research, this study examines the possibilities and limitations of digital tools in mimicking the tactile qualities of materials such as lace, brocade and embroidery. The findings show that while these materials can be convincingly recreated, maintaining authenticity and the inherent materiality of traditional fabrics in a digital context remains a major challenge. This research provides designers with a practical methodology for integrating heritage with modern digital design practices, contributing to the evolution of digital fashion that honors craftsmanship and heritage.
