Samenvatting

There is a difference between doing the right (or wrong) things and doing things right (or wrong). The first is often referred to with the term leadership. The term managing refers to doing things right (planning, organizing, etc.). Leadership and management concern two related but clearly distinguishable dimensions. The article states that in our 'smart' world we are much more concerned with management than with leadership. We do many wrong things very well, so that we get further and further into debt, for example to nature and to our posterity. On an individual level, it's psychologically ingrained that we can all feel guilty about something. Unfortunately, this is not the case at the system level.
