Sicherer Umgang und Kompetenzvermittlung für Fachkräfte der JugendarbeitSamenvatting
Due to the digitalization new forms of media have been developed that involve a po-tential risk for adolescents. Nowadays, young adults are always online and through social networks and instant messengers they can for example be bullied easily and data can be used improperly. Moreover, adolescents are often not aware about the risk the Internet entails and how to deal with them. Since social workers should be persons of trust for the adolescences they should have in-depth knowledge about new media to be able to teach the young adults in media competences. The “Youth Work Mobile 2.0 Train” (YOWOMO2.0-Train) is a training, which aims to inform its participants that are mainly youth work professionals, about the safe han-dling of new media. The researchers of this study were approached by the developer of training, Mr. Siemer, to evaluate it and investigate on the potential of further devel-opment. To elaborate on this, the researchers use a mixed methods approach. Two online surveys with students and 13 youth workers are conducted. In the first survey, it is aimed to evaluate the “YOWOMO2.0-Train” in particular. By means of the second survey, the researchers gather data about “YOWOMO2.0-Train” in comparison to the acknowledged “Developing Digital Youth Work”. To generate more concrete knowledge about the practical use, advantages and disadvantages and improvement possibilities of “YOWOMO2.0-Train” a focus group with the 13 youth workers is car-ried out. Generally, the training is evaluated positively especially because the taught content is seen as useful for the daily work life with young adults. Besides that, the trainers are well-prepared and applied different teaching methods. However, some topics for example “Internet grooming” are not covered in-depth enough. Moreover, the structure of the training could be improved. This bachelor thesis offers insights about the importance of knowledge sharing of media competences in relation to youth work and therewith provides the reader with recommendations on how to de-velop and improve “YOWOMO2.0-Train”.
