Samenvatting

Artificial peptide based catalysts are a long time dream of chemists. As the techniques are improving an European research project, called the artizyme project has started concerning this dream. One major point of research are synthetic routes to develop α-phosphine-L-amino acids. These proteins will be crucial in non biological catalysis, but little have yet been developed.
Currently, tests are done with the glycine-BPB complex developed in the 80s by Y. N. Belokon. This complex can be used to place a carbon side chain on glycine in the L conformation. If this method works with phosphine compounds this will be a major step forward in the development of α-phosphine-L-amino acids.
