One of the most common materials to build infrastructure around the globe is Portland Cement Concrete, which is also one of the factors affecting economies nowadays. Portland Cement Concrete requires a large amount of raw materials in order to be produced, like milestone, which its extraction method contributes to global warming by releasing bast quantities of CO2 into the atmosphere. Numerous studies are being focused on this area, primarily concentrating on the eco-friendly environment. Geopolymer binder is used in the research as a substitute for cement binder due to its efficiency (Bellum et al., 2019).
This research paper presents a comparative analysis of geopolymer concrete mixtures based on fly ash and/or steel slag as binders and miscanthus fibers as an additive, to increase tensile strength in the geopolymer concrete.
The mechanical properties of geopolymer concrete with different binding materials (fly ash, steel slag) and at similar curing conditions will also be investigated. A thorough analysis of the outcome will be provided in order to understand which methods improve the mechanical properties of geopolymer concrete and which methods are not as effective.
Moreover, different curing conditions will be applied to the geopolymer concrete to find which curing method is the most effective and flattering for the concrete in matter.
