Samenvatting

In this study, an existing injection mould was partially optimized by adding CCCs to one of the mould inserts. The insert was additively manufactured in stainless steel using Selective Laser Melting. Simulations of the cooling process in the injection mould show that hot spots are eliminated, but the differences in part temperatures are small when using similar cooling temperatures for the insert as for the original cooling channel (Tcoolant = 70 °C). For the physical experiments, temperature effects in sample production were magnified by using a lower coolant temperature for the newly added conformal cooling channels through the insert (Tcoolant = 40 °C).
