Designing a scrap book-like application
Designing a scrap book-like application
Samenvatting
This paper will present the work process behind developing the design of an application used as part of an alternative learning method for helping students find their professional identity aspirations. The main research question of the project was: What can be the design of an application that encourages students to document their activities and experiences to get closer to finding their professional identity aspirations? Research was done to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current software in use and to find what features the new application should include to meet the needs of students. The results suggest that the students needed more than what the client had planned. On top of an application where users upload their work process, the research participants asked for project management functions. The research results directly influenced the design choices, so the final prototype of the application is one that combines both the requirements of the client and the needs of the students. Throughout the work process, the design of the application was consulted with professionals in the field of UX/UI design and web development and user-tested with students from various disciplines at the University of Twente. The final results consist of the design of two fully-working prototypes of the mobile and desktop versions of the application that are ready to be developed.
