Samenvatting

Keyboard and 2D mouse are the commonly used input devices for computers. Unfortunately, these input methods come across as being unituitive when the user has to interact with 3D data. The 2D mouse has 2 degrees of freedom, whereas 3D interaction requires 6 degrees of freedom. To overcome this restriction, 3D motion tracking allows the user to virtually grab and interact with the 3D data in a more intuitive way than the traditonal interaction methods. An example of a system that uses 3D motion tracking is the C-Station, which is a desktop VR station developed by PS-tech in Amsterdam.

The current demo applications that PS-Tech has for the C-Station are still lacking in some areas. Their graphics quality is low and the look unprofessional. They are also not representing a real life scenario and only implementing basic level gaming activities. These issues cause the old demo application to be unappealing and not fully encouraging for the user to try the C-Station. Therefore, the technology development department in PS-Tech initiated a project to develop a new demo application for the C-Station.
