Samenvatting

‘Reshape Your Commons’ transposes the call for a ludic living environment into the zone of urban renewal along the IJ in Amsterdam-Noord, stretching from the Eye Institute towards the NSDM district. The place which once counted as a hotspot for alternative urban culture is now diagnosed with stagnated dynamics. Through research in art history and present-day theory concerning situational architectural practices a redefinition of public space is formulated, as an invite to democratic dialogue and co-creation. In an answer to the blurring of the lines between design and everyday life, a process of co-creation is given shape by a library of components generated by AI, along with a set of criteria and locations. To test the feasibility of the project contact has been made with several interest groups in the area, and pilot designs made for different locations.
