Correlation between manual measurements and an automated algorithm in measuring muscle thickness, pennation angle and fascicle length.
Correlation between manual measurements and an automated algorithm in measuring muscle thickness, pennation angle and fascicle length.
Samenvatting
Little is known about muscle in dynamic conditions. This is partly due to the fact that it takes a lot of time to process the images manually. At the Technical University Eindhoven an automated algorithm is being devoloped to reduce the time needed. The aim of this study was to correlate te automated algorithm with the manual measurements in muscle thickness(MT), pennation angle(PA) and fascicle length(FL).
this was a retrospective study consisting of 5 patients with an dataset of 201 images. Each image was processed with the algorithm and the manual measurements.
from these variables an two way mixed intraclass correlation coeffiecent was performed. The MT had an ICC value of 0.990, PA had an ICC of 0.766 and the FL had an ICC of 0.372
similar studies found agreeing results with the MT. However, the PA and FL did not have ICC scores as high as in other studies.
