Samenvatting

The main purpose of this final thesis project was to investigate how The Hague University of Applied Sciences can improve the university website according to the users’ viewpoint.
To achieve this objective, a thorough review of the literature on the multidimensional concept of website quality, previous studies in academic website evaluation, and website evaluation models was conducted to recognize essential quality factors and sub factors. Consequently, the two relevant models were combined into a new adjusted website evaluation model. This new model consisted of six high-level quality factors (Content, Functionality, Usability, Reliability, Design, and Organization) systematically arranged into sub-quality factors.
The proposed framework was implemented into the questionnaire with the help of the operationalisation table to evaluate the quality of the university website of The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Website evaluation tool called WEBUSE was adopted as the data analysis method to have more relevant analysis of the website quality evaluation.
The results of the online questionnaire revealed that the university website has a good quality in terms of functionality, usability and reliability, while having moderate quality of the content, design and organization aspects of the website. Hence, to improve the quality of the academic website, the website coordinators should concentrate on three key areas of the website: content, design and organization. Even though some improvements are necessary, the result of the evaluation indicated that the website has a sufficient quality to satisfy different users of the university website.
