Samenvatting

Often originating from the hip joint, hip and groin pain are prevalent among active individuals, with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and labral tears being primary diagnosis. This study investigates the postoperative outcomes of patients that underwent hip arthroscopy for labral tears, compared to those who did not have procedures for labral tears. A prospective cohort was analyzed, focusing on the Hip Outcome Score (HOS) with subscores for activities of daily living (ADL) and Sports. Results demonstrate significant difference in HOS-ADL and HOS-Sport between baseline, 3 months, and 1-year follow-up for both groups, with p-values less than 0.05. While a higher percentage of patients without labral procedures achieved the minimum clinically important difference (MCID), those who underwent labral procedures reached the Patient Acceptable Symptom State (PASS) sooner. The findings of this study highlight the importance of tailored surgical interventions, showing that labral procedures can improve patient-perceived outcomes, despite a longer recovery associated with mixed morphology.
