Samenvatting

Neighbourhood as a Biotope (Wijk als Biotoop - WaB) focuses on enhancing biodiversity in urban areas by fostering collaboration between people, nature, and technology. The project brings together 15 partners, including municipalities, nature foundations, technology companies, and diverse groups of residents, who also inspired us to raise new questions alongside our project’s main research question. The participants’ shared aim is to create healthier, more resilient cities in which residents actively contribute to biodiversity restoration. WaB is a four-year research initiative led by Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, funded by Regieorgaan SIA, and launched in January 2024 in collaboration with ESC-partner Inholland.
