Experiential Learning in Industrial Environments through Immersive Laboratories and Projects
Experiential Learning in Industrial Environments through Immersive Laboratories and Projects
Samenvatting
"The School of Energy at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) educates trades people, technicians, technologists and engineers for work in the energy sector
and the wider industrial sector in the Province of British Columbia (BC), Canada. We see the future of energy education in providing students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities. In this article, we are highlighting three types of examples where we have successfully implemented this: innovation driven by student projects, simulation-based training, and industry-aligned education. The examples showcase how multidisciplinary initiatives – spanning electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, and cybersecurity domains – equip learners with the skills and mindset needed for the sustainable energy transition."
