Background: Literature shows that sexuality is becoming more common in society through media and internet. As a therapist, when you work with people it is certain that you also get to deal with clients and their sexuality in many forms. (Sexual comments, (inappropriate) sexual behavior towards the therapist or between clients, and so on).
Fourth year students in this study are ready to start with their profession as a psychomotor therapist. What is their attitude about sexuality at the end of their training?
Goal: The main goal is to get to know more about the practical experience of the students at their internship about sexuality and clients. The second goal is to get more attention for the topic sexuality in the work field.
Method: Cross sectional study among all fourth-year students psychomotor therapy at Windesheim. Conclusion: During their internships the majority of students indicate that they have to deal with clients and sexuality. These are mainly the verbal aspects of sexuality. The students estimate their skills of signaling inappropriate behavior or talking about sexuality with clients, as positive. Despite that, 87% of all respondents think it is important that school needs to pay more attention to the topic sexuality for their future profession.
