Samenvatting

After its invention in 1907, the production of plastic quickly surpassed all other manmade materials till a point where a society without plastic is now unthinkable. Now, over 100 years later, problems with plastic have been growing progressively. This thesis identified sustainable packaging solutions for the deep draw packaging in the Dutch salmon industry. Despite the problems, plastic in the application of packaging for salmon has benefits that other materials cannot offer. Because of this, a sustainable packaging product without the benefits of plastic is unthinkable. The research objective for this research became the identification of deep draw packaging options for the Dutch salmon industry, with the goal of reducing plastic waste.
