Summary

This project includes a literature study for the measurements of the physical condition of heartpatients from the department rehabilitation, unit Physiotherapy of the Hospital: St. Maartens Gasthuis. On occasion of the discussion about the guideline "Hartrevalidatie" (KNGF), it seemed that the inflow of these heartpatients in-groups took place without sufficient clinical research concerning the physical condition of the patient.
To find these measuring instruments there is a literature study completed. There is searched through different ways to find some literature concerning this subject. The literature found is screened by a quality-analysis. With help from a data-extraction form is managed to get the information from the articles, at the end all this is set in to schemes.
During the research, we found 7 measuring instruments, which will be compared with each other. Judging from these results, we'll give out an advice to the physical therapists in the St. Maartens Gasthuis.

The advice will be based on the main question of this project:
"Which are the most valid, reliable and useful measuring instruments and are of such a quality that they can determine the physical state of the heartpatient in a responsible way?"

There are not many useful articles available that can be used for this project.
Because there is a lack of literature supply we are aware that it is hard
to draw a correct conclusion about which measuring instrument is the most useful for the rehabilitation department.
In fine; there is too much important information missing and there is too little literature available about the different measuring-instruments.

Despite the lack of literature we will give an advice concerning the measuring instruments to the St. Maartens Gasthuis.
In result of the literature study it appeared that, at this moment, the six-minute walk test and the ADL-vragenlijst (daily activity-questionnaire) seem to be the most suitable measuring instruments for the St. Maartens Gasthuis in Venlo.
