Samenvatting

Before starting my internship at Easyroommate we have talked about my graduation assignment and together with the company came up with a main question to tackle the problems of Easykamer in the Netherlands. The website for Easykamer was established in 2006 and was free of charge until May 2008. After this period, enough content was built for the website to start introducing the difference between a basic and premium member, and Easykamer began to charge members in certain cities. Unfortunately the main problem that Easykamer faces is their lack of brand awareness amongst the target group. This goes together with the fierce competition on the Dutch market. In the following report I have conducted certain steps of research to find out the cause of these issues.

In the introduction I started off with explaining the company Easyroommate and its 29 flatshare websites around the world. This part is mainly general and gives the objective reader an idea of what the company is like, how the website works and what service we offer to our customers. Afterwards I explain the main question I would like to answer after the research has been conducted. The main question in this report is;

"How can Easyroommate target its Dutch target group in order to reach the objectives that have been set?"

In this small sentence a summary of the problem is given, and clearly states that research will follow to come up with an answer to this problem. In this question I show that I only aim at the Dutch target group, which means Easykamer. However I will discuss the other websites that the company operates and especially why these websites are very profitable.
