Scouting: vrije tijd of therapie?
Scouting: vrije tijd of therapie?
Samenvatting
For this theses a qualitative research has been conducted. The central question in this research was: What is the vision of psychologist who treat children with “problem behavior”: Why would psychologist advice them to join Scouting and not treatment by Psychomotor Therapy? Five psychologist who treat children with problem- behavior were interviewed. The psychologists were asked what their opinion and experience was with scouting and Psychomotor Therapy regarding children with problem behavior. To get an answer on the central question of this research, an interview format has been developed. The questions in the interview are derived from the sub-questions related to the central question. This interview is semi- structured, the answers were collected during a telephone conversation. The interview was recorded with a voice-recorder and the entire interviews have been put on paper. The output of the five interviews has been summarized and sorted in two different ways: one per psychologist and the other way per interview question.
The most important result that has been found in this research is that through the eyes of a psychologist Psychomotor Therapy and scouting have a different meaning. The psychologists say that scouting is a good way for children with problem behavior to use their spare time, they say that children can develop themselves while they are playing games outside. The psychologist who participated this research have the opinion that Psychomotor Therapy is a good way to treat children when verbal treatment doesn’t give the child enough support. Nevertheless, the research shows that health insurance organizations don’t pay for all treatment anymore. This makes it hard for psychologist to advice Psychomotor Therapy. At last, psychologist say that the Health organizations and managers don’t know exactly what the outcome of Psychomotor Therapy can be and that Psychomotor Therapists have to promote themselves.
