Deluge: a conversationFriday 28th February, 2025Organised alongside the exhibition, this community conference will conclude three years of research and artwork. The event will include conversations and presentations from the Deluge artists, ecologists and salt marsh experts, connecting the three tidal wetland saltmarsh ecosystems and discussing their crucial role in marine carbon sequestration.Chaired by David Haley, Art Gene Trustee and artist, our speakers are: Nick O’Keefee, Coastal expert and Lead Advisor at Natural England; Charlotte Braungardt,Environmental Scientist (with expertise in Marine Biogeochemistry); Ecologist Jenny Holden; and artists Dana Olărescu, Linde Ex and Oscar Van Heek.The event will take place in the Art Gene Gallery, 1.00 – 5.00pm. It is free of charge and refreshments will be served. Booking is essential via Eventbrite.What to expect at the Community Conference on Friday 28th February, 2025Guests are asked to use the Abbey Road entrance to the Nan Tait building, or if level access is required, the door from the carpark; they will be directed upstairs via a lift or the stairs. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with drinks and sweet pastries. The event will begin with introductions from Maddi Nicholson, Director of Art Gene, and Rosy Naylor, Director of Art Walk Projects, who will provide an overview of the project. There will follow a series of talks and presentations, each lasting approximately 20 minutes, with an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. Halfway through the afternoon, there will be an interval with more refreshments. There will be time at the end to explore the exhibition and speak with the artists.
