Small-scale irrigation is considered one of the options for increasing agricultural productivity and supporting development in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Uganda. It is critically important as an innovative practice in smallholder agriculture in Sub- Saharan Africa. Small-scale irrigation (SSI) technologies can be useful not only to increase crop productivity, income, and poverty alleviation, but also as a viable adaptation practice to climate variability.
