labour-environmental coalitions for social-ecological transformation - a mixed methods studySamenvatting
This research aims to offer insight into the perspectives of people from two distinct groups who are concerned about the international social-environmental practices of one company and affected through its factory work and impact on their living environment. One group is the activist citizen initiative, called 'Verkehrswendestadt Wolfsburg' in Wolfsburg, Germany, seeking to drive the major employer and car manufacturing plant of the city, 'Volkswagen' factory into common ownership. Under democratic organisation, workers should decide on better working conditions, and support the social-ecological mobility transition in Wolfsburg by starting to produce local public transport goods. The other group is in an employment-contract with VW, (sub)contracted 'Volkswagen Group', 'Volkswagen Kraftwerk GmbH', 'Cariad SE', and 'Volkswagen Group Services'employees, all working at the VW plant in Wolfsburg.
