Samenvatting

This study explores the experiences of women with disabilities in Makurdi, Nigeria, focusing on their family relationships, the forms of discrimination they face, their access to support services, and the influence of cultural norms on their experiences of violence. The research seeks to answer four main questions: how the families of the disabled women typically respond when a woman with a disability like themselves faces violence, specifically if the family exbibits supportive or unsupportive behaviour, the challenges and forms of discrimination encountered, perspectives on the accessibility of support services, and the impact of cultural norms on their experiences.
