Influence of a life phase transition on food routines related to the protein transition

Open access

Samenvatting

Current diets centered around animal products are causing serious threats to both publichealth and the environment. While other approaches are necessary for sustainable foodpractices and security, the protein transition—the shift from animal-based to moreplant-based diets—is essential yet challenging. Changing food routines is a complex process that goes beyond simply removing certain foods and adding others. Therefore, this research project explores how Dutch students’ transition from living with their parents to living independently influences their food routines related to the protein transition. The objective of the study is to identify how this life phase transition influences students' food choices and their willingness to adopt more sustainable routines.
