Samenvatting

The main objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of contract farming in improving smallholder maize seed multipliers income so that the improvement strategies can be established. The study was carried out at the beginning of the implementation of the new seeds supply system. The research surveyed the perspective of smallholder maize seed multipliers on the factors which can contribute to the success or failure of contract farming, and their capacities to produce the required quality and quantity maize seeds, a simple random sampling was used to select forty maize seed multipliers in the selected District.
